Young people aged 16-24 in Berwick who are not currently in education, employment or training are being invited to take part in an exciting new programme designed to help them build confidence, gain recognised qualifications and move closer to employment.

The innovative project brings together young people, local employers and community organisations to create clear, joined-up pathways into work, training and education. Using a place-based approach, local partners will work together to provide support that is tailored to the needs and ambitions of young people living in the Berwick area.

A key part of the programme is the expansion of the successful 16×16 Passport Programme, an AQA-accredited scheme that helps young people develop valuable skills, experiences and achievements that can be showcased to employers, colleges and training providers. The programme is youth-led, meaning participants can explore opportunities aligned to their own interests, strengths and career aspirations while receiving support to build confidence and prepare for the future.

As part of the offer, young people can also access Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications, accredited employability training, and personalised support to help them overcome barriers to work and learning. Participants can receive assistance with digital skills, access to computers and online resources, and practical support with CV writing, job searching, applications and interview preparation.

Participants will also benefit from stronger links with local employers across sectors including manufacturing, health and social care, construction, retail, hospitality and the creative industries. Through workshops, employer engagement and work placement opportunities, young people will gain first-hand experience of the workplace and develop the skills employers are looking for.

The programme is designed to meet young people where they are, helping them take positive steps at their own pace. Whether someone is unsure about their next move, looking to improve their confidence, gain qualifications, develop digital skills or secure valuable work experience, the project offers practical support and new opportunities.

Young people aged 16-24 who would like to explore their options, gain recognised achievements and connect with local employers are encouraged to enrol and take advantage of this unique opportunity to invest in their future.
