The “Young People and Work: Interim Report” is a major independent review chaired by the Rt Hon Alan Milburn, commissioned by the UK Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
Published on 28 May 2026, the report diagnoses a massive rise in the number of young people aged 16 to 24 who are Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET)
The findings warn that the UK faces a “lost generation” and a worsening economic crisis without an urgent “system reset”
